October 31, 2006 - Looking for …

Camera: Canon PowerShot A530.
Time: 13:47 October 25, 2006
Location: zhong shan park, shanghai.

Ripple, shadow, spotted light, and leaves… all are there. When passing by the grove along the river, I was attracted by the fresh branches. Under the shadow, they are stretching, seems so eager to hope to touch the nice sun shine nearby.

(Reading the post of Kris for 30th of Oct, I was touched. Beauty & happiness is really very simple. Annoied by the “blocked blog”, I was upset recently. But why so upset?? We have so many beautiful things around us, we have some other ways to solve the problems. Even if we really lose all ways to solve the problems. why not accept it? Life won’t be perfect. I already know such a nice DP family, know lots of beautiful cities around the world, and lots of talent and nice photographers … Don’t cry because of losing something now, Be happy because of owning something ever. )

October 30, 2006 - Green

Till today we still cannot open the websites of “***.blogspot.com”. I found some proxy service to check the websites…some works, some not. Sorry if you didn’t see my comments. I only know how to find a proxy service, not a Hacker! ;)

I don’t know the exact reason. But this is not the first time that the Chinese lost the access to “blogspot” in China…. Hope our blogs’ future is like the sun and green leaves in the photo.

Hope is in our heart~~ for our freedom of speech, for our freedom of net-speech!!

October 29, 2006 - Shanghai Bookmall

This is the Shanghai Bookmall. In Chinese it is called “shanghai shu1 cheng2″(上海书城). It is the biggest bookstore in Shanghai, and locates on Num.465 Fu2 Zhou1 Road (福州路465号) , which is not far from Nanjing Road. There you could find lots of books, of course most are in Chinese. :)
On the weekend there are lots of people to spend their leisure time on finding some great books.

Just go east from the Shanghai Bookmall, you’ll see that bookstore. (address for the foreign language bookstore is Num.390 Fu Zhou Road.)

(some background:
Before 1949, Fu2 Zhou1 Road was also called Si4 Ma3 Lu4(四马路), in literally si4 = 4th, ma3lu4 = road. It was famous for lots of bookstores and publishing companies there. It was also known as the famous culture road in China. Nowadays there are lots of bookstores too. Why did people name this Road as the “Fu Zhou Road”?? Do you remember the treaty I mentioned yesterday?? Yes, in that treaty 5 cities in China were mentioned to open to the outside world, Fuzhou was among them. )

October 28, 2006 - Nan Jing Road

*Sorry, my friends. Recently I cannot open any blogs from www.blogger.com. I cannot open all the DP blogs, even mine too. But strange, I can post. So, I have to wait till the service from google is ok, then I could be back to check your nice photos and leave my sincere comments.*

Weekend is coming. So let’s go out for a walk !!!
This is the famous…famous…famouse walking street in Shanghai: Nan2 Jing1 Road.(link to wiki). The 6 Chinese characters you see on the photo are : 南京路步行街, in literally nan2jing1 (南京)= city’s name; lu4 (路) = road ; bu4xing2 (步行) = walking ; jie1 (街) = street . It is famous for the shopping stores and the crowded from all over the world.
If you once came to Shanghai before, or you are planning to come to Shanghai soon. I am sure that if you want to ask some suggestions from the local Shanghainese or the travel agents, they all would tell you to visti this walking street!!! Am I right??? :D And even in the early 20 century, it was already famous. There was a pop saying in China at that time: if you came to Shanghai, but you did not visit this “Nanjing Road“, it meant that you did not visit the city of Shanghai.
Actually I do not like this street very much. Maybe I am so afraid of the crowded places for I will lose myself there. Maybe if you are a little bit careless when you are walking there, the thief would follow you ASAP. So be careful when you enjoy your happy time there!! Another tip is when someone pulls you and tries to sell you some products, just BE CAREFUL!! Of course, the price is totally unreasonable.
(some backgroud here: the name of this road is named after the city of Nanjing which was famous in Chinese modern history because of the Treaty of the Nanjing. And it was also called “大马路”(da4 ma3 lu4) before 1949. In literally, da4= big , ma3 lu4 = road. Because at that time it was the broadest road in the International Settlement. oh, it seems that I begin to give you history lessons. :D more information in the future. ).

October 27, 2006 - Mmmm~~~

Cute kids again today!!

This adorable girl was also taken in Zhong1 Shan1 Park yesterday. I stood a little bit far from her. “why did she walk there alone?? What did she think?? ” Mmmmm… I began to notice her.

She wore so cool (I like her style). And from her walking posture I guessed her expression would be very serious. Do you think so?? Maybe she was thinking of her favourite toys… Maybe she was thinking some serious things.. Like, where are my ants friends ?? Did they move their home away??
