October 21, 2006 - Let’s get married ???

Wow… wow…So many beautiful brides there!!! What’s the date today??? The “dies faustus” ??? Ur….

I read Raymond’s post about the weddings. It reminded me that this year and 2007 are the “marriage PEAK years” in China. For most people still believe some traditional customs that to get married or to bear children in special years could bring good luck for new couples or babies. And 2006 is the year of the Dog; 2007 is the year of the Pig. Both are the lucky years to get married and to bear children.
Actually I didn’t know I would see so many brides in the greenbelt yesterday. After lunch, I went out as usual to walk for a while and also want to catch some nice moments. In the park, I saw this. :) I counted the number of the new couples who were taking wedding photos there are at least 14. How many brides can you find in this photo?? :D
When I stayed there and tried to take some photos, I thought out one Japanese TV play series “let’s get married“(the name in Chinese)(hehe…maybe I should ask Macky’s help) acted by the famous Japanese actor Yosuke Eguchi .
Have a nice weekend, my friends….

Tres belle photo de mariage. Amusant cette supertision sur les années du mariage. Et les statistiques donnent raison a la supertision ?

Very beautiful photograph of marriage. Amusing this supertision over the years of the marriage. And do the statistics give reason to the supertision?

Very interesting photo and unbelievable the number of brides. LOL at Zsolt72′s comment. Seems funny to us westerners that a year of the pig can be considered lucky. Here in France we eat so many things from the pig that the pig certainly doesn’t feel lucky!

lol.. Nice photo. So many bride, jing!
Recently some people have a pig as a pet, not for eating. Pigs are said to keep clean. But I don’t know exactly…
    Anyway, I rather prefer eating…

5 brides? This information about 2006 and 2007 bringing luck, I find very interesting. As I said once it is good to learn about your traditions as they are not very well known in the “Western world”.

cool photo – love the relaxed poses of the subjects.

If you are in Paris between now and February you should see the Doisneau exhibition at the Hotel de Ville – poster here: Doisneau

I know this year is good for marriage because of “double springs” and leap month, but what is so special next year?

ohh gosh..more and more brides. We are at 5 now? Any more?:)

The pig as lucky year is strange to me too. Are pigs so lucky in China?:) But anyway..I wish they will be really lucky.

    thx all of nice comments!!
when i saw the 14 new couples in the same place taking wedding photos…i was amazed too!!!
It really let me feel it’s the wedding season!!
    :D

    Carlos,
yes, 5 brides in the photo!! :) I even hoped all of the brides would walk into my camera at the same time!! :D

about the pig year… :D actually i agree zannnie.

Some people here still believe that the pig means the “easy and rich” life. For the pigs no need to work in their life, they can have nice food everyday…
So to get married in this year means the new couple could live in rich. So does to the new babies.

    Macky,
yes, i saw that kind of pet pig here! smaller one. And once i saw on tv that those kind of pet pig really likes neat environment. i dont know its english name, but in Chinese its name is “mini xiang2 zhu1″(xiang2 = fragrant; zhu1 = pig).

    meg,
i think in China, people will say that you are born in the lucky year!! :D

    Kris.
:D oo…really look forward to hear your wedding bell rings! Just remember to have new babies in the same lucky year! :D

    Zsolt…
LOL…I forgot to notice those grooms! The guys all wear the black suits..look the same to me!!
    :D

    have the nice Day!!

This reminds me of when I was in Romania earlier in the year. Like here, couples would get married in the park and in half an hour I must have seen 10 or more couples, all the wedding parties mingling together. It was really interesting – I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that in the UK.
