Look, what I found in the downtown! It looks like a small cottage in the village. The house is very old, and small and lower. It locates on the Ju4 Lu4 Road(near to Fu4 Min2 Road). That area belonged to the French Concession. And the name of the Road :Ju4 Lu4 Road was called Route Ratard Road before 1949.
With the development of the city, lots of old houses and buildings were disappeared, instead of more modern buildings. But for me, I would like to see more this kind of small cottages on the both sides of the road. Seeing it, we could feel some atmosphere so long time ago —-who lived here? what kind of street view it was at that time??Good memory for us.
P.S.
Today is another solar term according to the Chinese lunar calendar–Xiao3 xue3(小雪)(20th), in literally: xiao3(小)= small; xue3(雪)=snow.It means that the weather is becoming colder and colder. Actually in the northern part and the middle part of the country have already snowed, and in the southern, it wont snow, but the winter also is coming … Leaves are yellow and fallen, people have to wear the thicker clothes. And in Shanghai, I don’t wear too much, but I already saw some people wore the warmer down garments!!!! Wow…..:D

I wonder the same thing about old houses… who lived here? What were their dreams? Did they think they had found their dream home and a place to live happily ever after? When they left, were they ready to leave, or were they terribly disappointed?
Paris has, when the old houses are destroyed and like the real estate coute very expensive, direction the next suburbs (before the outskirts of the city it was between 1 and 5km, maintaining they is more between 25 and 35 km). I notice much air-conditioner on this photograph
HaHa, those air-conditioner boxes (called condensers) are connected to cooling fan units inside the buildings. The condensers must be placed outdoors because they give off a lot of heat;too bad they are so visible that they almost spoil the image of this beautiful village… Almost! Great photo!
to me the history of Shanghai is so interesting. I am happy to read more about it from you:)
I like that. Asking yourself about who was here before, what was it like?. Old buildiings like these small houses give some spirit to monotonous, industrialized cities like the ones most of us live in.
Hi it is me again. I was trying to send you an email but couldn’t so I tell you here. On your old site in blogger, you write a link on top to redirect us here: it is correct, I mean it appears as your new address but in the code I think is mispelled and it doesn’t take you anywhere. I have your link alright in my list but when we come from profile in blogger we are sent to the old site.
thx. Carlos,

I changed it already!! yes,. some mispelled in the link….:) thx, thx…..:) so careless i am again.:P

i will be careful when I leave the comments.
thx….
What an amazing blog, Jing! What you find exotic about my DP, I find doubly so in yours…(especially that soup ;-))))
I”ll be back!
Such a lovely shot - I hope this area is left alone and don’t get bulldozed to make way for high rises.
We should preserve the real significant buildings. A city should be a combo. of old and new
Hello Jing. Nice atmosphere indeed. A place that lets you imagine how it could have been before. A short journey back in time, and a kind of dream machine… I like that!
Besides, it’s important to picture these places before they disapear. Well done.
