Out of expectation, it was raining in the afternoon, heavy rain. I was so worried about my homework for the DP Blog. With the umbrella, I still decided to walk around to find some atmosphere of rainy day.
Watery world again, even this bronze sculpture. Her posture, with a CAMERA in hands, let my brian cells at once think of some sentences from a poem in Chinese :抬望眼,仰天长啸,壮怀激烈。It was written by the ancient poet :岳飞 (yue4 fei1) who lived in Song Dynasty. Actually it is not very proper for a girl to express this kind of feeling. I am off the subject so far.
But I like her lifting-head statue. (The meanning of that sentence: Lifting my eyes, Towards the sky I let out a battle cry; My blood is boiling.)
This sculpture locates on Lu4 Jia1 Zui3 Plaza. There are 3 characters in this group which is called “Lao Wai visit Pu Dong”(lao3 wai4=foreigners). (And after the Theme Day post, I will show you the whole group figure. ) The sculpture was created by a young famous Chinese sculptor 王曜(wang2 yao4) who works in East China Normal University now.

What an absolutely great photo for this blog!
Love the raindrops rolling off her face – she’s really crying today, isn’t she
Poweful statue, Jing.
Perfect photo for a City Daily Photo blog … To me is looks like you declared battle against the rain and won.
Jing, my anti-spam word is “natural.”
This is a great shot, I really love the emotion. But I can’t match up the statue, that emotion and the caption — with the camera? Maybe you can explain what you think it means?
This bronze statue is beautiful:) love that she is holding the camera and the big drops of rain water seemed like ‘sweat’;)
p.s. You’ve won the Quiz #5! And titled ‘Miss Sharp Eyes DP’:) Now you’re on my blogroll;)
dont’ forget to email me your mailing address to zannnie@gmail.com

tres belle statue de bronze, et bravo pour ta photo.
il y a de belles statues à Shanghai.
very beautiful bronze statue, and cheer for your photograph. there are beautiful statues with Shanghai.
Another lovely shot, Jing. I like this one a lot, and the rain hasn’t spoilt it at all – quite the opposite, I think the rain has made it an even better picture.
i like the poem….matches with the sculpture very much:) wonderful both..
Jing this is lovely! I’ve seen your comments before at Ham’s site, but first time i looked at yours. This statue is, as you say, enhanced by the head lifting pose. Even better, however, is that you managed to capture her in the rain! Those drops are fabulous, but moreso, she looks like she is enjoying being in the rain! There’s real feeling in this.
Jing, kudos! you have the ability of taking a simple subject and make it so interesting.
I’ve enjoyed this post.
Could we put a label for this photo DP?
This is just suitable for it. Think, a camera, one of us begging a good catch
for today post of DP what ever the weather is
A perfect photo , Jing!
Ah, and it looks as though she favours the Pentax K1000, one of my earlier cameras!
How appropriate
I’m singing in the rain !
That’s what she’s singing!!!
These early photos and text…………are sooooooooo wonderful. Different than now 2009 almost 2010 in a few months. One can learn so much from them…you really thought about the story so well.
