Mm, I want to show you the Christmas tree today.
Do you see that wall-Xmas tree? It is special a little bit, because it was planted on the corner of the building… :)
This building is actually an old building which once was some important place before 1945. As I mentioned, this building locates on the Middle Huai hai road where once belonged to Shanghai French Concession/La concession française de Changhaï . And the French Municipal Council worked in this building since 1935. Now only from its red bricks, it still looks a little bit different from the skyscrapes nearby, and inside it has changed to be the modern shopping mall. The address of the building: Num.381, Huai2 Hai3 Road(Middle), and you’ll find the name of the building: Central Plaze(中环广场,zhong1 huan2 guang3 chang3). (I will update more information about the French Concession when I am free….go to work!!!) Here is the big photo.
have a nice day, dear folks~~~
Update 16:00, 20th, Dec.
French Concession was settled in 1862 in the city.Actually at that time, that area was just the big piece of land. The town of shanghai was near the Huang2 Pu3 River where now we call it “Temple of the Town God”(城隍庙=cheng2 huang2 miao4). And the French Concession covered the Lu2 Wan1&Xu2 Hui4 districts. The concession is a pleasant mix of wide tree lined streets and interesting European style architecture. Huai2 Hai3 Road once was called Avenue Joffre, who was a French General. In Chinese,Avenue Joffre=霞飞路(xia2 fei2 lu4). Oh, long history…i need more time to do more.
Hope you like.

Great photo again, as always!
I’m asking the computer angel to fix your computer (or get you a new one).
No one would guess this is Shanghai, but your explanation clarifies. I am glad to learn what you told us. Thank you!
Very interesting architecture. Is the tree real?
OT – Jing, there is an American movie The Painted Veil , that is opening next week simultaneously in USA and China. It was shot entirely on location in China and, according to the reviews, it shows off your beautiful country. I’m planning to see it and will think of you -)))
The trees looks unique on the wall.
Hope you do not lose any photos that have been stored in your harddisk. All the best for the repair.
I would have never thought that the Frenchies had a concession in Shanghai !
I like the Xmas tree that was settled in the corner of the buidling. Such a place gives it some perspective.
An uusual tree. Many have been posted this season on the different blogs and I’m impressed with the diversity and imagination. Your photo is delightful.
