January 26, 2007 - Morning glance #2

morning glance#2

Because of the work, I recently have to walk along the Huai Hai Road every morning. Lots of shops there, but before 10am, we only can see those beautiful windows. And sometimes when I see this nice wedding dress, I cant help to take them with my little camera.   HAVE THE NICE WEEKEND~~~ Big photo is here. ;)

Those are wedding dresses? Gorgeous, but is that traditional? No white tulle and veil? Are you planning your wedding already, Jing ? ;-) ))

Cool wedding dresses, esp. the one on the right. Do Chinese brides usually wear wedding dresses like these or the westernized white dress??

I had forgotten about this until seeing your post today, but I went to the wedding of a Chinese friend about ten years ago and she wore two different dresses…a red one for Chinese custom during the ceremony and then a traditional American white one for the reception. The dresses you picture here are beautiful!

My first though was “really these are wedding dresses!’. But then I remember your mentioning, in a previous post, how red plays a big roll in wedding ceremonies … I really like Lisi’s comment. Celebrating cultural heritage builds a solid foundation for a marriage.

I like the dress with the lighter skirt. It looks elegant, traditional but modern at the same time. Plus I love dresses which let ladies’ shoudlers free.:)

oh how pretty it is!

for wedding dinners / banquets in singapore, the bride will have at least 3 changes of their dresses. do they do that in Shanghai too?

:P
Hm….these dresses are for the wedding photos. I know in China, almost every new couple will take some very beautiful and expensive wedding photos in the special photo studio, and these dresses are for the wedding photos only.

talking about the real wedding dresses, I never did any survey. ;) From my experience, I guess there is no special customs to wear what kinds or how many wedding dresses here….just depends on what they like. Of course, the red dress must be seen on each wedding. But now, with the fast development of the society, some young couples dont care about the red or the white.or some other colours.

and , yes…i wish on my wedding someday, i could wear some beautiful dresses like this:traditional colours, but modern style….what the good combination!!!
:p

I adore the dress on the right, and I would love to be able to wear something like that in a wedding here. Alas, if one doesn’t wear the traditional white, many eyebrows are raised.

If I had to choose, I would take the red one for the pictures and a classic white dress for reception…
