February 22, 2008 - Daily Life on Shunchang road

08-02-22_600x600.jpg

Taken @ Shun Chang road, shanghai

Recently I am wondering about what is “photography”. Some of people think the original shoots should be called “photography”… someone said thats the traditional theroies. We need add our mind into the photos. For me, I like both types of photos. And the streets photos are my favorites. This is a moment on Shun chang road, which is a small street in the downtown, very close to xintiandi, but typically different views from there. The local people still lives in their normal life.

as someone new to Chinese culture I am thoroughly enjoying your choice of subjects…..I like the modern photos showing the vibrancy and diversity of Shanghai and the photos of “old-world” Shanghai show me some of the “richness” of your culture……..why do you care about theories……you are very talented…….photograph whatever u want….we know that whatever the subject the end result will be of high quality………KIA KAHA….(be brave)

Jing this is a very good photo. I particularly like it because it shows daily life that is both similar and VERY DIFFERENT to what we are used to see here in France. So to me it’s a very good reason to come and visit and discover the world in its variety.

Your photo is outstanding as is normal. The subject is compelling and significantly different from scenes in my home town. Your blog does a great job of recording your views of both the modern and the old. But today’s explanation was most interesting to me. I will have to reflect on your comment “We need add our mind into the photos”.
