Taken @ Nanjing , China
I really forgot that this roll was in my Holga for ages!!!
When I processed I was surprised to see some shots from Nanjing where I went this Spring!! Oh Dear ~
Its interesting experience to try different types of films with Holga, this is Fuji RVP100F. and I asked to cross processed. Then I got this so strong hue shot! Hm, maybe its good to see it in the winter?
Because it looks like something is burning.
The view is the Yangtze river, where I was on a ferry boat to reach the other side of Nanjing city – where the old railway station is, which is abandoned for years. The buildings there are still preserved, and I quite like them – less people, quiet, and only 2 or 3 floors. Oh, that place is called “Pu kou”(浦口).

I don’t know much about he Holga camera, I never used one. I heard that the Holga is an inexpensive, medium format 120 film toy camera, made in China, appreciated for its low-fidelity aesthetic. The market of this camera was for the working-class Chinese in order to record family portraits and events. After the cameras began to be distributed , some photographers took to using the Holga for its surrealistic, impressionistic scenes for landscape, still life, portrait, and especially, street photography. I have no experiences with Holga unlike you , it is a very interesting end result. You being an artist…. can allow you to really experiment alot and explore many different visual opportunities. I am glad you post them for us to see. I see at DP you are also our art teacher too….learning about the camera and different films like the Fuji RVP100F film is good. What model do you use??
You where able to travel to Nanjing for the spring….I knew two teachers from the University in Nanjing…one taught economics only the during the summer he lived in Washington DC the other still teaches there I believe. They both helped me write poetry, funny huh??? I lost touch with them.
I like your interpretations DP brings us , and of your photos and life in Shangahi and other cities. Something burning……….interesting how artist view their works
